Thura was appointed to the Board in 2018 and elected as the Chairman in 2019.


Thura is an elected representative on The Football Association Council since 2007; a member of the FA National Game Board, FA Women’s Football Board, FA Judicial Panel and Chairmen Panel for disciplinary commissions and appeal boards; and on the FA National Chairmen Panel for anti-discrimination and serious cases. He is a member of the Premier League Judicial Panel and also a UEFA Match Delegate, where he has been appointed to UEFA matches in European Championship, Nations League, Champions League, Europa League, and Youth League around Europe.


Away from football, Thura is an IT Consultant with over thirty years’ experience and was formerly the Chief Information Officer at Little, Brown Book Group and Time Warner Book Group in London. He is also an Accredited Civil & Commercial Mediator and an Arbitrator.


Thura has been a Magistrate in Hampshire since 2004, where he continues to sit as a presiding justice in adult and youth courts, and was the Chairman of the Bench, responsible for around 180 magistrates. He is also the Chairman of Wiltshire, Hampshire & Isle of Wight magistrates training, approvals, authorisations and appraisals committee, which is responsible for circa 700 magistrates in the area.


Upon his return to Sussex from Hampshire, where he was a Director and Deputy Chairman of Hampshire FA over many years, Thura was elected onto Sussex County FA in 2013 and then as a Board Director in 2016.


Thura has a Master of Laws degree, and he is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
