Shirts 4 Schools returns to Crawley Primary Schools

Crawley Town FC and principal sponsors, The People’s Pension, are delighted to announce that once again we’ll be running our Shirts4Schools initiative – and this year it’s bigger and better than ever!

The initiative is now in its third year and 19 schools from across Crawley have taken us up on our offer of a free Crawley Town FC shirt for their Year 1 pupils, meaning that a record 1,191 students will receive one.

Some schools took part in virtual assemblies as part of the Crawley Town Community Foundation’s Premier League Primary Stars programme, where the children got an inside look at The People’s Pension Stadium. Pupils elsewhere in the district were able to meet mascot Reggie the Red, when he popped into their schools to help deliver the shirts.

Head of Commercial for the club, Joe Comper, spoke of his pride at once again running the project: “The Shirts4Schools project is probably my favourite thing that the club has done over the past few years. When I was young, you’d see so few Crawley shirts around town that you’d point out, but nowadays you can’t go into the County Mall without seeing one, and I think that’s largely down to Shirts4Schools. The feedback from the schools and many parents is always so positive, and I am grateful, as always, for the support of The People’s Pension, without whom this project couldn’t happen”.

Roy Porter, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at B&CE, provider of The People’s Pension, said: “We are delighted to, once again, be involved in such a wonderful initiative, one which encourages youngsters to engage with their local professional football club. This year has further underlined the importance of community spirit and Shirts4Schools is a fantastic way to help express this.

“Crawley Town is a shining example of how an organisation can connect with local people and we are proud to be able to support them.”

Deliveries of the shirts commenced on 7 December and continued throughout the week. Parents of Year 1s who receive a shirt can enter a competition to win some great prizes, the details of which can be found on our social media channels.
