When Crawley Town Community Foundation was announced as the Ignition EFL Community Club for the South East 2020 at the beginning of March, nobody anticipated what the future months would entail. With Government restrictions begin to ease and following confirmation of the continuation of support for the PE Sport Premium, it is time to look ahead to see what we can do to help the community moving forward.
This summer we have teamed up with Crawley Borough Council’s Play Service and the Sussex Cricket Foundation in offering fun-packed activity sessions at Cherry Lane and Millpond Adventure Playgrounds.
These sessions are suitable for children aged 5-12 years and will run from 10.30am to 1pm & 2pm to 4.30pm. These sessions include a variety of activities ranging from football, multi skills, cricket, play and arts and crafts. Each session costs £1 per child, per session.
Week 1 commenced on Monday 3rd August at Cherry Tree Lane Adventure Playground, bringing children from around Crawley together in a safe and social environment during the Summer Holidays.
For the next 3 weeks, the sessions will be running at –
· Week 2 (10 August) – Millpond
· Week 3 (17 August) – Cherry Lane
· Week 4 (24 August) – Millpond
Football and Sports Development Manager, Kayleigh Bowers, had this to say about this summer collaboration, “We are excited to work with local partners to get this programme off the ground!
It is an excellent opportunity to give local children the opportunity to get out of the house and learn new skills and make new friends.”

This summer we are also running Summer Soccer Schools at Crawley Town, which also commenced on Monday 3rd August.
Our Soccer Schools are hosted at the People’s Pension Stadium, on our 3G Ballcourt opposite the Redz Bar and sessions run from 9 am – 3pm, for young people aged 5 – 12 years old.
These are engaging and fun sessions designed to teach participants the fundamentals of football, with each day having exciting and varied activities.
All drills will be age specific, making sure that we group participants based on age and ability in order to help them improve, individually and in a team.
All equipment will be clean and disinfected after each session and we will provide access to hand sanitiser at each session and during breaktime.
Please be aware, if an individual is symptomatic, living in a household with a possible COVID-19 infection or if you are classified as extremely vulnerable on health grounds, the guidance is that you should remain home.
You can book your child for £20 per day or at a discounted price of £90 for a full week. Places are filling up quickly, so book online today to ensure you don’t miss out - https://www.ctcommunityfoundation.com/football-development-1
We will continue to help and support the community as much as we can in this time of crisis.
