Crawley Town 16-19 Football & Education Academy Trials

Crawley Town are delighted to announce details of their Football & Education Academy Trials, taking place in the upcoming June half-term, for year 11 and 12 footballers who aspire to play elite football and have an interest in a career in sport.

The Education Academy is moving into its sixth full year and, despite Covid-19, it has had its most successful year to date throughout 2020-21. The programme has strengthened its links to the Crawley Town FC First Team set-up with Manager, John Yems, taking a significant interest in three students throughout the year, and Technical Director, Erdem Konyar, supporting the programme numerous times, offering advice and guidance to the students and providing opportunities for staff and students to integrate with the first team set-up.

As well as the programme's links to the first team, the progression pathways for students leaving the programme have improved greatly over the course of the year with three students progressing in to UK university education, two students having been offered scholarships in the USA, one starting onto a personal training apprenticeship, and another joining the armed forces.

The Foundation has continued to strengthen its partnership with Holy Trinity Sixth Form, who are responsible for registering the students and ensuring high standards are maintained in the classroom, throughout the academic year. Ensuring students are able to progress on and off the pitch is a key target of the Education Academy, and is an aspect that all staff work towards supporting students on the programme. Head Coach, Rob Semark, has helped provide pathways for players to progress into under-23 football locally, and working with local clubs to provide additional playing opportunities is something the Education Academy have been keen to develop throughout the past 12-months.

To date, the programme has recruited a number of exciting student footballers ahead of next year and due to expansion, the programme is seeking an additional 10 new students to join us in September 2021.
