As the Elite and Development Girls first year anniversary come into view we were fortunate to welcome the Hastings United Academy to the Broadfield Stadium ball court for matches on Monday evening.
The ball court pitch has served as a platform to showcase the girls football and to express themselves this past year and it was exciting to see a good-spirited and competitive evening of football there - the culmination of dedication from players, coaches and parents.
The Foundation's Football and Sports Participation Coach Natalie Taylor organised and oversaw the fixtures:
“We rounded off an amazing first year of our girls-only football programme at Crawley with fixtures for all age groups against Hastings Girls Academy. Every player applied themselves excellently, with competitive games displayed throughout the evening.
With the FIFA Women’s World Cup fast approaching and women’s football being so prominent, I am proud to be part of a development programme which provides access at a local level to talented girls seeking opportunities to improve their skills, develop their understanding of the game, and progress in football.”
As the Foundation reflects on the programme's first year, we eagerly look forward to the exciting journey ahead. We are committed to expanding the provisions we have, creating more opportunities, and making a lasting impact on the lives of girls who aspire to make their mark in football.
Details for the new season of Elite and Development Centre football keep an eye on the website. Until then, we run a girls-only Premier League Kicks football session on the ball court every Friday 6-7pm and is for all ability players aged between 8-18.
